How to plant Anubias
Anubias is a rhizome plant. Attach the rhizome to rock or wood with thread, glue, or a gentle wedge. Keep the rhizome above the substrate; burying it can cause rot.
Light, nutrients, and algae
Moderate light and a consistent photoperiod are usually enough. Because Anubias grows slowly, algae can settle on older leaves when light is stronger than the plant’s growth rate. Keep leaves clean, improve flow, and avoid overextending the light schedule.
Design ideas
Use Anubias to soften stone edges, frame a focal point, or add broad-leaf contrast to fine textures. It pairs naturally with Java fern, moss, Bucephalandra, shrimp, and shaded nano layouts.
Propagation
Once the rhizome is established, divide it with a clean blade so each section has healthy roots and several leaves. Reattach each division to hardscape.
